# Erewhon vs Canteen

The clearest difference is rating: Canteen at 5.0 against Erewhon's 3.7. Erewhon's advantage is ratings volume (539 vs 5) and review sentiment (55% vs 33%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Canteen holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Erewhon has 539 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of Erewhon's written reviews are positive against 33% of Canteen's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
