# Motel Rocks vs Subdued

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Subdued at 75% against Motel Rocks's 17%. Subdued also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.0). Motel Rocks's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (2K vs 154). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Motel Rocks holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Motel Rocks has 2K ratings behind it against 154, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 17% of Motel Rocks's written reviews are positive against 75% of Subdued's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Motel Rocks ships an update every 6 weeks, Subdued every 5 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
