# Blacktel vs Second Sim

The clearest difference is rating: Second Sim at 4.2 against Blacktel's 2.4. Second Sim also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (87 vs 14). Blacktel's advantage is review sentiment (27% vs 11%) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Blacktel sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $16.49 per month and Second Sim sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Second Sim holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 2.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Second Sim has 87 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 27% of Blacktel's written reviews are positive against 11% of Second Sim's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Blacktel ships an update every 2 months, Second Sim every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
