# HKM vs FT Digital Edition

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: HKM at none against FT Digital Edition's 2. HKM also leads on iOS requirement (8.0 vs 17.6). FT Digital Edition's advantage is ratings volume (3K vs 1) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. FT Digital Edition sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $16.99 per month. HKM asks for nothing beyond the download.

HKM holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FT Digital Edition has 3K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

HKM ships an update every 2 months, FT Digital Edition every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
