# Dekala vs Halo Light

Dekala and Halo Light both sit at 4.3 stars, but that hides the real split: 78% of Halo Light's written reviews are positive against 29% of Dekala's. Halo Light also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 9 months) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 13.0). Dekala's advantage is ratings volume (404 vs 6). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Dekala holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dekala has 404 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 29% of Dekala's written reviews are positive against 78% of Halo Light's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Dekala ships an update every 9 months, Halo Light every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
