# StepsMeter vs Step AI

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Step AI at 100% against StepsMeter's 63%. Step AI also leads on iOS requirement (18.0 vs 26.0). StepsMeter's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 2) and ads (none vs shown). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Step AI sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month. StepsMeter asks for nothing beyond the download.

StepsMeter holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 21 and 8 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 63% of StepsMeter's written reviews are positive against 100% of Step AI's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

StepsMeter ships an update every 6 days, Step AI every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
