# Minimal | Notes vs iMarkdown

The clearest difference is monetization model: iMarkdown at free with in-app purchases against Minimal | Notes's subscription. iMarkdown also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 3 weeks) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Minimal | Notes's advantage is ratings volume (290 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Minimal | Notes sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and iMarkdown sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

iMarkdown holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Minimal | Notes has 290 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 81% of Minimal | Notes's written reviews are positive against 90% of iMarkdown's.

Minimal | Notes ships an update every 3 weeks, iMarkdown every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and September 18, 2026 respectively.
