# Goodnotes vs CmonGrit

The clearest difference is review sentiment: CmonGrit at 100% against Goodnotes's 34%. CmonGrit also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (16.4 vs 18.6). Goodnotes's advantage is ratings volume (464K vs 2) and chart position (#100 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Goodnotes sells 16 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and CmonGrit sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

CmonGrit holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Goodnotes has 464K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 34% of Goodnotes's written reviews are positive against 100% of CmonGrit's.

Goodnotes ships an update weekly, CmonGrit every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
