# Voyage Control vs HOBOconnect

The clearest difference is rating: HOBOconnect at 2.2 against Voyage Control's 1.6. HOBOconnect also leads on ratings volume (29 vs 5). Voyage Control's advantage is review sentiment (20% vs 8%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

HOBOconnect holds the better App Store score, 2.2 against 1.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: HOBOconnect has 29 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 20% of Voyage Control's written reviews are positive against 8% of HOBOconnect's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Voyage Control ships an update every 3 weeks, HOBOconnect every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
