# 1st Phorm vs McLeans

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: McLeans at none against 1st Phorm's 4. McLeans also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and iOS requirement (11.4 vs 15.5). 1st Phorm's advantage is ratings volume (5.4K vs 3) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. 1st Phorm sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. McLeans asks for nothing beyond the download.

McLeans holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: 1st Phorm has 5.4K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

1st Phorm ships an update every 3 weeks, McLeans every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
