# Elgato Control Center vs Proto Studio

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Elgato Control Center at 4K against Proto Studio's 13. Proto Studio's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 5 months). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Proto Studio holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Elgato Control Center has 4K ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Elgato Control Center ships an update every 5 months, Proto Studio every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
