# Screen Recorder vs VideoShot

The clearest difference is monetization model: VideoShot at free with in-app purchases against Screen Recorder's subscription. VideoShot also leads on review sentiment (68% vs 33%). Screen Recorder's advantage is ratings volume (3.1K vs 211). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Screen Recorder sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per 7 days and VideoShot sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

VideoShot holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Screen Recorder has 3.1K ratings behind it against 211, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 33% of Screen Recorder's written reviews are positive against 68% of VideoShot's.

Screen Recorder ships an update every 3 weeks, VideoShot monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
