# Screen Recorder vs Video Recorder Pro

The clearest difference is monetization model: Video Recorder Pro at free with in-app purchases against Screen Recorder's subscription. Video Recorder Pro also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). Screen Recorder's advantage is ratings volume (3.1K vs 305) and device support (4 vs 1). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Screen Recorder sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per 7 days and Video Recorder Pro sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for Screen Recorder against 4.5 for Video Recorder Pro. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Screen Recorder has 3.1K ratings behind it against 305, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 33% of Screen Recorder's written reviews are positive against 31% of Video Recorder Pro's.

Screen Recorder ships an update every 3 weeks, Video Recorder Pro weekly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
