# GlitchCam vs MX Effects

The clearest difference is rating: GlitchCam at 4.7 against MX Effects's 4.2. GlitchCam also leads on ratings volume (1.5K vs 95). MX Effects's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 6 weeks). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GlitchCam sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $7.99 per year. MX Effects asks for nothing beyond the download.

GlitchCam holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GlitchCam has 1.5K ratings behind it against 95, so its average is the more settled of the two.

GlitchCam ships an update every 6 weeks, MX Effects every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
