# Backgammon Now vs Backgammon Plus

The clearest difference is update cadence: Backgammon Plus at every 3 weeks against Backgammon Now's every 3 months. Backgammon Plus also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (4.7K vs 349). Backgammon Now's advantage is review sentiment (31% vs 18%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backgammon Now sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per month and Backgammon Plus sells 25 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Backgammon Plus holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backgammon Plus has 4.7K ratings behind it against 349, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 31% of Backgammon Now's written reviews are positive against 18% of Backgammon Plus's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Backgammon Now ships an update every 3 months, Backgammon Plus every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
