# Promethean vs Insta

The clearest difference is rating: Insta at 3.0 against Promethean's 2.5. Insta also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months). Promethean's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and ratings volume (60 vs 2). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Insta sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Promethean asks for nothing beyond the download.

Insta holds the better App Store score, 3.0 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Promethean has 60 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 18% of Promethean's written reviews are positive against 0% of Insta's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Promethean ships an update every 4 months, Insta every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
