# PDF Splice vs Split PDF

The clearest difference is rating: PDF Splice at 5.0 against Split PDF's 3.0. PDF Splice also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 3) and ads (none vs shown). Split PDF's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 68%). On price, update cadence and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Split PDF sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. PDF Splice asks for nothing beyond the download.

PDF Splice holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PDF Splice has 21 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of PDF Splice's written reviews are positive against 100% of Split PDF's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
