# DLC Mobile vs PennWest Shield

The clearest difference is rating: PennWest Shield at 5.0 against DLC Mobile's 4.6. PennWest Shield also leads on iOS requirement (13.2 vs 15.1). DLC Mobile's advantage is ratings volume (14K vs 3) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 4 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

PennWest Shield holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DLC Mobile has 14K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

DLC Mobile ships an update every 2 months, PennWest Shield every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
