# EPUB Reader vs Folio

The clearest difference is update cadence: EPUB Reader at every 2 months against Folio's every 4 months. EPUB Reader also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. EPUB Reader sells 8 one-off in-app purchases and Folio sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

EPUB Reader ships an update every 2 months, Folio every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
