# Widget Timer vs Stopwatch

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Stopwatch at none against Widget Timer's 3. Stopwatch also leads on review sentiment (67% vs 45%). Widget Timer's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 60 months) and rating (4.1 vs 3.7). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Widget Timer sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Stopwatch asks for nothing beyond the download.

Widget Timer holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Widget Timer has 185 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 45% of Widget Timer's written reviews are positive against 67% of Stopwatch's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Widget Timer ships an update fortnightly, Stopwatch every 60 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
