# Gym Buddy vs Barbell Path

The clearest difference is rating: Barbell Path at 5.0 against Gym Buddy's 4.1. Barbell Path also leads on update cadence (every 2 days vs every 10 days). Gym Buddy's advantage is ratings volume (54 vs 2) and iOS requirement (17.6 vs 26.4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Gym Buddy sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Barbell Path sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Barbell Path holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Gym Buddy has 54 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Gym Buddy ships an update every 10 days, Barbell Path every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
