# Ponant vs Hreyfill

The clearest difference is rating: Ponant at 3.9 against Hreyfill's 2.2. Ponant also leads on ratings volume (86 vs 6) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 6 weeks). Hreyfill's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 11%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Ponant holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 2.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ponant has 86 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 11% of Ponant's written reviews are positive against 50% of Hreyfill's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Ponant ships an update every 3 weeks, Hreyfill every 6 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
