# POINT Maps vs iTAK

The clearest difference is rating: iTAK at 3.6 against POINT Maps's 1.0. iTAK also leads on ratings volume (155 vs 2) and chart position (#206 vs unranked). POINT Maps's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 3 weeks) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 17.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

iTAK holds the better App Store score, 3.6 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: iTAK has 155 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

POINT Maps ships an update every 2 days, iTAK every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
