# Speed Writing vs Alpha Speed

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Alpha Speed at 100% against Speed Writing's 0%. Alpha Speed also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1). Speed Writing's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 days vs every 10 months). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speed Writing sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Alpha Speed asks for nothing beyond the download.

Speed Writing holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speed Writing has 39 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of Speed Writing's written reviews are positive against 100% of Alpha Speed's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Speed Writing ships an update every 2 days, Alpha Speed every 10 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
