# Rat Zone vs Mental Math

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Rat Zone at none against Mental Math's 3. Rat Zone also leads on ratings volume (19 vs 3) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.0). Mental Math's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 8 months). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mental Math sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Rat Zone asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.3 for Rat Zone against 4.3 for Mental Math. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Rat Zone has 19 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Rat Zone ships an update every 8 months, Mental Math weekly. The most recent releases landed on September 24, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
