# PlayScore 2 vs Music Scanner

The clearest difference is rating: Music Scanner at 5.0 against PlayScore 2's 4.2. Music Scanner also leads on update cadence (every 2 days vs every 2 months). PlayScore 2's advantage is ratings volume (4.8K vs 1) and chart position (#143 vs unranked). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PlayScore 2 sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Music Scanner sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Music Scanner holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PlayScore 2 has 4.8K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

PlayScore 2 ships an update every 2 months, Music Scanner every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
