# Backbone vs ACBL Loop

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: ACBL Loop at none against Backbone's 16. ACBL Loop also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Backbone's advantage is ratings volume (101K vs 4) and chart position (#71 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backbone sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. ACBL Loop asks for nothing beyond the download.

ACBL Loop holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backbone has 101K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Backbone ships an update every 3 weeks, ACBL Loop fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
