# Backbone vs Nanza

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Nanza at none against Backbone's 16. Nanza also leads on iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). Backbone's advantage is ratings volume (102K vs 5) and chart position (#70 vs unranked). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backbone sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Nanza asks for nothing beyond the download.

Nanza holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backbone has 102K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Backbone ships an update every 3 weeks, Nanza every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
