# Route vs Rockstar Original

The clearest difference is ads: Route at none against Rockstar Original's shown. Route also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and ratings volume (521K vs 15K). Rockstar Original's advantage is review sentiment (61% vs 40%) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Route against 4.9 for Rockstar Original. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Route has 521K ratings behind it against 15K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 40% of Route's written reviews are positive against 61% of Rockstar Original's.

Route ships an update every 3 weeks, Rockstar Original every 9 days. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
