# SchoolBook vs Advance

The clearest difference is rating: Advance at 5.0 against SchoolBook's 2.8. Advance also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). SchoolBook's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and review sentiment (24% vs 0%). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Advance sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. SchoolBook asks for nothing beyond the download.

Advance holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SchoolBook has 35 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 24% of SchoolBook's written reviews are positive against 0% of Advance's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SchoolBook ships an update every 3 months, Advance every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
