# TOR Browser vs Private Browser ++

The clearest difference is monetization model: Private Browser ++ at free with in-app purchases against TOR Browser's subscription. Private Browser ++ also leads on review sentiment (92% vs 74%) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15). TOR Browser's advantage is ratings volume (19K vs 33). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TOR Browser sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and Private Browser ++ sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for TOR Browser against 4.7 for Private Browser ++. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TOR Browser has 19K ratings behind it against 33, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 74% of TOR Browser's written reviews are positive against 92% of Private Browser ++'s.
