# TOR Browser vs Iron Blocker

The clearest difference is rating: TOR Browser at 4.6 against Iron Blocker's 3.0. TOR Browser also leads on ratings volume (20K vs 4) and device support (4 vs 2). Iron Blocker's advantage is monetization model (freemium vs subscription). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TOR Browser sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and Iron Blocker sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

TOR Browser holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TOR Browser has 20K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

TOR Browser ships an update every 3 weeks, Iron Blocker every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
