# Appa Mia vs Octopus

The clearest difference is rating: Octopus at 5.0 against Appa Mia's 2.4. Octopus also leads on update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 10 months) and ratings volume (22K vs 5). Appa Mia's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 78%) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Octopus holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Octopus has 22K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Appa Mia's written reviews are positive against 78% of Octopus's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Appa Mia ships an update every 10 months, Octopus every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 26, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
