# CarLive vs Cartomizer

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: CarLive at none against Cartomizer's 1. CarLive also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.5) and update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 3 months). Cartomizer's advantage is review sentiment (86% vs 60%) and ratings volume (518 vs 4). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Cartomizer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. CarLive asks for nothing beyond the download.

CarLive holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cartomizer has 518 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of CarLive's written reviews are positive against 86% of Cartomizer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

CarLive ships an update every 5 weeks, Cartomizer every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
