# Lyd vs Sono+

The clearest difference is update cadence: Lyd at every 10 days against Sono+'s every 2 months. Lyd also leads on rating (4.4 vs 4.1) and review sentiment (86% vs 66%). Sono+'s advantage is monetization model (freemium vs paid). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Lyd sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per year and Sono+ sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Lyd holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Lyd has 355 ratings behind it against 56, so its average is the more settled of the two. Lyd ships an update every 10 days, Sono+ every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
