# Hornady Reloading Guide vs MechTrack'n

The clearest difference is update cadence: MechTrack'n at every 3 days against Hornady Reloading Guide's every 2 months. MechTrack'n also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6). Hornady Reloading Guide's advantage is ratings volume (17K vs 2) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hornady Reloading Guide sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per year and MechTrack'n sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MechTrack'n holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hornady Reloading Guide has 17K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Hornady Reloading Guide ships an update every 2 months, MechTrack'n every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
