# Mimecast Security Agent vs Proton Pass

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Mimecast Security Agent at none against Proton Pass's 5. Mimecast Security Agent also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 17.0). Proton Pass's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (8.9K vs 2). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Proton Pass sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $35.90 per year. Mimecast Security Agent asks for nothing beyond the download.

Mimecast Security Agent holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Proton Pass has 8.9K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Mimecast Security Agent ships an update every 3 months, Proton Pass fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
