# Windowpane vs Social*

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Social* at none against Windowpane's 3. Windowpane's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (7 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Windowpane sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Social* asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Windowpane against 5.0 for Social*. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Windowpane has 7 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Windowpane ships an update fortnightly, Social* every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and September 21, 2026 respectively.
