# HomeChef vs Meal Selection

The clearest difference is rating: Meal Selection at 5.0 against HomeChef's 3.2. Meal Selection also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). HomeChef's advantage is ratings volume (6 vs 1). On price, update cadence and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. HomeChef sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $0.49 per 2 months. Meal Selection asks for nothing beyond the download.

Meal Selection holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: HomeChef has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

HomeChef ships an update every 6 weeks, Meal Selection every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
