# Шахматы vs Chess960 ™

The clearest difference is update cadence: Шахматы at every 8 days against Chess960 ™'s every 10 months. Шахматы also leads on iOS requirement (9.0 vs 13.0). Chess960 ™'s advantage is ratings volume (64 vs 3). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Шахматы sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Chess960 ™ sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.3 for Шахматы against 4.4 for Chess960 ™. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chess960 ™ has 64 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Шахматы ships an update every 8 days, Chess960 ™ every 10 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
