# Head Shadow vs AmiHear

The clearest difference is update cadence: Head Shadow at every 3 weeks against AmiHear's every 19 months. Head Shadow also leads on rating (4.3 vs 3.9). AmiHear's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 83%) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs paid). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Head Shadow sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and AmiHear sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Head Shadow holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.9. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 13 and 16 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of Head Shadow's written reviews are positive against 100% of AmiHear's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Head Shadow ships an update every 3 weeks, AmiHear every 19 months. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
