# Speed Reading UpRead vs Speed Reader

The clearest difference is rating: Speed Reading UpRead at 4.2 against Speed Reader's 3.8. Speed Reading UpRead also leads on ratings volume (116 vs 6). Speed Reader's advantage is review sentiment (75% vs 54%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speed Reading UpRead sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and Speed Reader sells 7 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Speed Reading UpRead holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speed Reading UpRead has 116 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 54% of Speed Reading UpRead's written reviews are positive against 75% of Speed Reader's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
