# BC Dictionary vs Advance

BC Dictionary and Advance both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of BC Dictionary's written reviews are positive against 0% of Advance's. BC Dictionary also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 4) and ratings volume (35 vs 2). Advance's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Advance sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. BC Dictionary asks for nothing beyond the download.

Advance holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BC Dictionary has 35 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of BC Dictionary's written reviews are positive against 0% of Advance's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

BC Dictionary ships an update every 3 months, Advance every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
