# Scan n Gen vs Sunrun

The clearest difference is rating: Sunrun at 4.5 against Scan n Gen's 3.4. Sunrun also leads on update cadence (every 4 weeks vs every 9 months) and ratings volume (3.4K vs 5). Scan n Gen's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 73%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Sunrun holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sunrun has 3.4K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Scan n Gen's written reviews are positive against 73% of Sunrun's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Scan n Gen ships an update every 9 months, Sunrun every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
