# Garmin GPS Trainer vs EMB

The clearest difference is rating: EMB at 5.0 against Garmin GPS Trainer's 2.1. Garmin GPS Trainer's advantage is update cadence (every 3 months vs every 62 months) and ratings volume (28 vs 4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

EMB holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Garmin GPS Trainer has 28 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Garmin GPS Trainer ships an update every 3 months, EMB every 62 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
