# I Hate Receipts vs AI Receipt Scanner

The clearest difference is rating: AI Receipt Scanner at 4.4 against I Hate Receipts's 4.1. AI Receipt Scanner also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 weeks). I Hate Receipts's advantage is review sentiment (57% vs 33%) and ratings volume (65 vs 13). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. I Hate Receipts sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per year and AI Receipt Scanner sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

AI Receipt Scanner holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: I Hate Receipts has 65 ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of I Hate Receipts's written reviews are positive against 33% of AI Receipt Scanner's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

I Hate Receipts ships an update every 5 weeks, AI Receipt Scanner every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
