# OVID vs Darkroom Streaming

The clearest difference is review sentiment: OVID at 95% against Darkroom Streaming's 35%. OVID also leads on ratings volume (40 vs 1). Darkroom Streaming's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OVID sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Darkroom Streaming sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Darkroom Streaming holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OVID has 40 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 95% of OVID's written reviews are positive against 35% of Darkroom Streaming's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

OVID ships an update every 3 months, Darkroom Streaming every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
