# READsquared vs Read

The clearest difference is rating: Read at 5.0 against READsquared's 1.9. Read also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). READsquared's advantage is ratings volume (35 vs 3) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Read holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 1.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: READsquared has 35 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

READsquared ships an update every 2 months, Read every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
