# Bumpy vs Backpackr

The clearest difference is rating: Backpackr at 5.0 against Bumpy's 4.5. Backpackr also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Bumpy's advantage is ratings volume (42K vs 2) and update cadence (weekly vs monthly). On price, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Bumpy sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and Backpackr sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Backpackr holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Bumpy has 42K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Bumpy ships an update weekly, Backpackr monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
