# Barre Definition vs FINESSE

The clearest difference is monetization model: FINESSE at free with in-app purchases against Barre Definition's subscription. FINESSE also leads on update cadence (weekly vs monthly). Barre Definition's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (2.8K vs 103). On price, rating, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Barre Definition sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $29.99 per month and FINESSE sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Barre Definition against 4.9 for FINESSE. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Barre Definition has 2.8K ratings behind it against 103, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 97% of Barre Definition's written reviews are positive against 94% of FINESSE's.

Barre Definition ships an update monthly, FINESSE weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
